About Eleanor

I’ve been in the NHS since 1987, first as a Nurse, then as a Midwife. Since 2005, a certified HypnoBirthing Practitioner, and in 2008 a clinical hypnotherapist.

As Midwife and Hypnotherapist I have observe Click here for my NEW CD How to have a Brilliant Birth d that couples who see spending time together as crucial to the success of their relationship and for the health and well being of their baby, have the most amazing birth experiences.

As well as learning the practicalities, the physical changes the body journeys through, the fears and concerns that bringing a baby into this world carries, we share a lot of laughter, fun and excitement too.

I do enjoy meeting and working with couples who are prepared to work through their limiting beliefs, which cause them obstacles to a relaxed pregnancy, and which  stop them from getting what they really want, and this is so important for baby as it alters the way s/he is born.

To see the relief they feel, and the excitement they embrace and the confidence they gain is absolutely brilliant.

I have gained my skills through a thorough and rigorous training within the NHS, the HypnoBirthing Institute and the Clifton Practice.

I have witnessed and supported many 100’s of mothers to birth their babies within the NHS environment.

I have taught and supported many couples to learn and embrace HypnoBirthing, which is a fantastic tool, enabling couples to enjoy labour where they are present, and totally understand everything which is happening to them. And with the support of their partner, they present a united team.

It is my purpose to encourage couples to have their own best birth, and to develop their trust, confidence and love for themselves, each other and of course, their baby.

It is my vision that every baby experiences their birth as comfortable and that they enter the world gently to meet parents who are ecstatic, joyful and love them, they will feel their parents pride and hear the words "you are seen and you are loved."

Testimonials

Oliver James Row, 13th June 2008, Honiton Maternity Unit

When I was first pregnant, I was absolutely terrified of the thought of giving birth.  Nick also hated the idea so much, that he didn’t want to be present at the birth.  The whole thing was terrifying and like a big dark shadow looming at the end of my pregnancy.  HypnoBirthing changed our lives and we believe changed the start of little Ollie’s life- all for the better.  Together through the practice Nick and I grew in confidence of our abilities, and Ollie’s birth was an amazing experience.  Nick was fantastic through my labour, and it felt like a real team effort.  The staff at Honiton were absolutely fantastic, supporting our wishes and approach throughout, and helped us to have the birth of our dreams.  Thank you to all of you - you are great J  I just wish that more ladies could have the benefit of the experience and wonderful memories that we have.

HypnoBirthing!

Why:  Heard about if from a fellow mum to be (Jasmin) and then again at local homebirth group. I was having an awful time getting my homebirth 'approved' as I was overweight despite being fit and healthy and so  I was terrified of impending birth and had always loved meditation type work so got the book from eBay, read it and liked the whole idea.  Found Eleanor and was hooked!!

How did it support me: I felt safe!  I was being told, by a midwife, that it would work for me and from doing the work in our sessions I could feel the benefits of the calm breath work.  Understanding what my body was doing made such sense, why should we not know what's going on and how best to move with it rather than against it!  I only had 5/6 sessions but I felt I was understood and encouraged to have the birth I wanted.

What did I like: The practitioner!!  Eleanor has a very relaxed and quiet nature which I felt safe with.  Some of the personal topics we covered were painful and talking them through with an empathic person made it feel less terrifying.  I loved learning to get in touch with my baby (sounds naff I know) but it felt ok to commune with my bump before she arrived.

"Not only did I become much more chilled out but I also took things in my stride much more than I ever could, my family were delighted and my baby has absolutely felt the effects, she is mellow and only cries for food, the rest of the time she is alert, wanting to be included or sleeping. A course not to be missed, and which has had a ripple effect on us all , thank you" Karen, Wells, Somerset

"I am noticing how much more I laugh these days. It's a great feeling, I feel like a burden of worry has gone and I am looking forward to my babys birth now" Joanna, Taunton

"I thought I would be the only one it wouldn't work for, but it was so easy, everyone can do it" Sharon, Taunton

"I now think it's crazy not to prepare like this, I mean if you were doing the marathon you would train mentally and physically, birth is no different so I trained and it paid off perfectly" Stuart, Wells

"I had  never considered how important pre labour training is,  I mean you would train for a marathon wouldn't you, you wouldn't even consider not traiming but our expectation is that we can labour without preparation and be fine. My first and second  birth experiences  showed me  how unhelpful this view is and I understand why  so many women have horror stories, if they were running a marathon they wouldn't get very far either. I am a big fan of pre birth preparation and this course  covers everything. It helped me get the birth I desired when we had our third baby, and it was amazing for us both. Thank you." Anna, Taunton

"I have learned how to manage my stress now and how I can be in control more. It comes down to a bit of confidence, lovely support and having some trustworthy techniques to use if I feel I need to. Bring it on, HypnoBirthing rocks" Dave, Father to James, Taunton

What Parents Say

"We wanted to drop you a line and say thank you for  the wonderful HypnoBirthing course. It was a real pleasure, education and above all eye-opening experience for us both, not just for what hypnobirthing will bring to our baby but to us an individuals too.

Your genuine care, capacity and warm approach filled us  both with the confidence as to the techniques, and to our ability to apply them successfully. It was reassurring to find others who share our belief in natural birth and concern at the over medicalisation of what should be a very special, unique and personal experience. Thanks to you and the Mongan method  we were able to give our baby the best birthing experience.

Our daughter Grace was born in water , at home after a labour which lasted the 3 hours we intended it to. It was an amazing powerful experience and I am so proud of myself and her.

We would  not hesitate to recommend HypnoBirthing to any expectant parent, infact, given the chance, we wouldn't miss the opportunity to convince others of its worth!

Once again a big thank you." Allison  Johnson and Darren Chesters, Parents to Grace, Taunton.
